Services
Regular Worship
Morning worship is held every Sunday at 11.00 am, except from mid-June to late August when the more informal Summer Services are held at the earlier time of 10.00. On Remembrance Sunday the service begins at 10.45 am.
Family Services are held monthly except for July. These usually involve the Praise Group and members of K-Max, J-Max and Y-Max.
Communion
The Sacrament of Holy Communion is celebrated six times a year: Card Communions on the second Sunday of March, June, September and December (sometimes the first Sunday in December) at 11.00 am, 3.00 pm (June and December) and 5.00 pm (March and September). 3.00 services are held in the hall and are particularly suited to wheelchair users/disabled. Family Communion Services are held on the 2nd Sunday of May and on the last Sunday of the year (11.00 am).
Hymns and Bible
We use CH4 (The Church Hymnary, Fourth Edition) sometimes with additional hymns and songs projected onto the screen. Hymnbooks are available at the door. There are Pew Bibles (Revised Standard Version) and page references are given for the readings.
Children in Church
Children are always welcome in Maxwelltown West. The Sunday School (K-Max for age 3½ to P3; J-Max for P4-P7) meets at 11 a.m. on Sunday mornings from September until the end of May, except for school holidays. There are Crèche facilities every Sunday where babies and toddlers may be looked after for all or part of the service, as required.
Y-Max (young people in S1 and above) meets on Sunday evenings from mid-September to Easter, usually at The Manse (7.00-8.15 pm). They take a leading role in monthly Family Services, doing drama sketches and readings.
